Delegates practise media preparation, streaking, staining and microscopy while building an understanding of microbial growth and metabolism. The programme provides a solid grounding for staff new to microbiology work.

What you will gain

  • Prepare and quality check culture media for routine use
  • Perform aseptic streaking and subculturing to obtain pure isolates
  • Apply Gram staining and other differential staining methods
  • Use light microscopy to examine and describe microorganisms
  • Interpret biochemical tests for preliminary identification
