Course overview

Experts often explain by starting where their own understanding starts rather than where the listener is. This course covers building explanations that begin from what the other person already knows.

What you will be able to do
  • Judge what a listener already understands
  • Build an explanation from familiar ground outward
  • Use analogy without introducing false ideas
  • Strip jargon without losing precision
  • Check understanding rather than assuming it
  • Adapt the same explanation for different listeners
Who should attend
  • Technical specialists and engineers
  • Clinicians and scientific staff
  • Trainers and subject experts
  • Anyone explaining their field to non specialists
